the loose all over the world. Several Nigerians have died, and many more have been forced to flee their homes.
Senator Smart Adeyemi, an APC legislator, said yesterday that the country has fallen and is no longer stable. He urged the president to seek assistance from other countries.
From July 1975 until his assassination on February 13, 1976, Yakubu Gowon was the military ruler of Nigeria.
On Monday, Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, said that Nigeria’ s insecurity is due to the previous military regime, while speaking on Channels TV.
” The truth is that in 1973, we were told by the lead discussant and that the government of the day had a retreat and said there must be a national commitment as to what we must do to ensure that we do not go through another civil war, ” he says.
” At the time, the government decided that the only way to avoid another civil war is to ensure that anyone born after January 1970 receives free and compulsory primary education. ”
He claims that the new government is beset by a failure to provide compulsory schooling to all people.
Mr Buhari’ s administration, he said, is dealing with issues related to the country’ s 13. 2 million out- of- school children, who could be easily recruited for terrorism and banditry.
” Unfortunately, the government was overthrown two years later, and all of the lofty ideas and preparations required to ensure that every child of school age received free and compulsory education were thrown out. ”
” And we are paying the price today because if there are 13. 2 million school- aged children out of school, that is the market where Boko Haram, bandits, IPOB, and other insurgents recruit people. ”
Previously, the Buhari administration has blamed the country’ s instability on the People’ s Democratic Party (PDP), which governed for 16 years.
